| Our probably most important and responsible event was the Fifth Assembly of the World Movement for Democracy (April 6 – 9, 2008, Kyiv, Ukraine), a grandiose international forum called “Davos of democracy”, whose participants were the President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko, Peru’s ex-President Alejandro Toledo, Head of Supervisory Council of the Ukraine 3000 International Charity Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko. The Assembly provided a space for discussions and experience exchange for 550 participants from all the continents and 110 nations; the most eminent participants were the Belarusian opposition leader Aliaksandr Milinkevich, leaders of Burmese monks U Uttara and U Panna Vamsa, frontman of the Ukraine’s most popular band Okean Elzy Sviatoslav Vakarchuk, widow of martyred Ukrainian journalist Georgiy Gongadze Myroslava, well-known international experts Carl Gershman, David Lowe, Art Kaufman, Kenneth Wollack, Larry Diamond, Saad Eddin Ibrahim. The conference was welcomed by the ex-President of Czech Republic Vaclav Havel, and unbelievably energetic and driving performance of the Mad Heads XL rock band became a closing point of the event.
The Simple Group faced all the challenges successfully. Overall results of our work, highly appraised by the international community, could be represented by 201 printed and broadcasted records of the Assembly in Ukrainian and foreign media (almost 23 records per day). |
